Alan Capellin

Bio

I grew up in Merritt Island, Florida where I spent a lot of time outdoors at the beach, sailing, water skiing and fishing on the Indian River Lagoon and surrounding area.  I apprenticed as a sailmaker at Sails by Morgan from high school until I moved to Tampa to attend USF Engineering School in 1990.  In 2005, I moved to Bradenton where I am still a sailmaker and designer for UK Sailmakers, continue to race sailboats and coach sailing with my camera by my side everywhere I go.  I have to acknowledge the following people for helping me discover my passion for photography; Fried Elliot of FriedBits.com, Britt McAllister, Tom Lunde, David Hein, Darren DeSilva, Allison Langley, Billy Black, Onne van der Wal, Sharon Green, Richard Coffman (my uncle), Lordes Lopez (my dad's cousin), Ruben Hernandez of Fastman Photo and Steve Morrell of Southwinds Magazine.
